Purpose Over Prison
Ex-convict turned motivational speaker, Tijuana Jackson is a new archetype, funny but with a lot more heart than snark. Written, directed and starring Romany Malco, against Regina Hall as his parole officer, the film also serves as a way into conversations about the prison industrial complex and how it exacerbates already rampant racism in the US.
Released late summer 2020, the LA Times called our film decidedly anti-racist: https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/movies/story/2020-08-01/romany-malco-tijuana-jackson-antiracism
